In France, they explained why European manufacturers are weaker than American ones
The French Ministry of Finance: production in the EU is losing to the United States due to the energy crisis and subsidies from Washington.
The difference in energy prices in Europe and the United States, as well as subsidies from the American government to attract business, put EU producers at a disadvantage in the global market, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said in an interview with Echos on Monday.
«Our production is already suffering from a loss of competitiveness due to the difference in energy prices in the United States and in Europe. The huge subsidies provided by the US Inflation Reduction Act and competition from China, which also subsidizes businesses, threaten to further widen this gap,» Le Maire said.
The Minister noted that an early coordinated EU response to these measures is needed, including filing a complaint with the WTO, without excluding France’s actions unilaterally.
